The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on October 21, 2021 approved the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP), including the institutional framework for rolling out, implementation, monitoring and support mechanism. On October 13, 2021 the NMP was inaugurated.  Pegged at a cost of Rs 100 trillion, the scheme aims to set up a multi-modal connectivity to various economic zones and a centralised portal to unite the infrastructural initiatives planned and initiated by as many as 16 central ministries and departments. As part of the master plan, around 0.1 million km of road will be added in the next four years to expand the NH network to around 0.2 million km.

An Empowered Group of Secretaries (EGOS) headed by the Cabinet Secretary and secretaries of 18 ministries as members, among others, will be set up.
